Editorial Base publishes “El Secreto de Maroka” the first children’s story by the writer Mara Meneghel

A story to prevent and manage bullying among the youngest children.

The book has been written for boys and girls aged 3 to 9 and for all audiences, such as parents, teachers and grandparents. Its main character is Maroka, a 6-year-old girl who is bullied by her classmates and does not want to go to school.

As the story unfolds she will learn the importance of knowing that she is not alone and that when we have people who love us and whom we trust, everything is easier to resolve.

The children’s story «El Secreto de Maroka» is one more tool created by the author; based on the ARTIS project (Arteterapia Integrativa Sistémica). The project’s aims are: to accompany boys and girls with different psycho-educational needs aged 3 to 9 (infant and primary stages), in their different spheres; And to help them overcome the various challenges by themselves, with the help of their families and teachers in different contexts.

The ARTIS project has a track record of more than 10 years and was developed at the Lluis Vives state school in the Badal neighbourhood of Barcelona by the expert Dr Mara Meneghel Casas.

El Secreto de Maroka» is now on sale in bookshops and specialist shops, with a recommended retail price of €12.26.

The official launch of the book will be on 13 January at 18:30, at Casa del Libro (Paseo de Gracia 62, 08007, Barcelona).

Synopsis of El Secreto de Maroka:

This is the story of a girl called Maroka, who suffers at home and at school because she is keeping a secret that only she knows. Perhaps you have one too, or you know a friend who does. Maroka’s little secret will help you understand that you are not alone. When we have the help of someone we love and who loves us, everything turns out to be easier to resolve.

About the author:

Mara Meneghel holds a doctorate in Education Sciences from the University of Barcelona, where she worked as a coordinator and lecturer on postgraduate and master’s programmes. She is also an integral systemic pedagogue, art therapist, psychomotor therapist, family constellations facilitator and systemic coach. In 2009 she created the ARTIS project, with the aim of integrating and helping boys and girls with learning and behavioural difficulties. ARTIS has been applied systemically in state and state-assisted schools in Barcelona, with the active participation of families and of teaching, psycho-pedagogical and school management teams. Through children’s stories, Mara wishes to continue her work with children and their families.
