Madrid, 01st October 2024. – EUCARE, a groundbreaking initiative co-funded by the European Union, is set to launch in Spain with a mission to bolster community resilience and security across Europe. This ambitious project empowers individuals by providing free, tailored training programs and an e-learning platform designed to improve security awareness, vigilance, and preparedness in an increasingly volatile world.
Spain, currently maintaining its terror alert at level 4 (out of 5) due to heightened risks of Islamist terrorism, is one of 18 European countries where EUCARE is actively working to make communities safer. While Jewish communities have become increasingly targeted by terrorist threats—especially following the October 7 attack in Israel—EUCARE underscores that all communities, regardless of faith or background, are susceptible to these dangers. The program emphasizes that violence can strike anywhere, and equipping civilians with the right knowledge and skills can make a difference in preventing or mitigating such incidents.
EUCARE’s work is particularly focused on providing resources and training to Jewish communities, who have faced growing levels of antisemitism in Europe. In response, the project has been working intensively with Jewish groups to offer specialized training on identifying suspicious behavior, reporting it to authorities, and taking effective action in emergencies. However, the initiative’s scope goes far beyond one community. EUCARE’s free training programs are open to anyone interested in enhancing their security, and the platform fosters a culture of self-reliance, collaboration, and shared responsibility.
Through workshops, online modules, and real-world simulations, participants will learn crucial skills to safeguard themselves and their neighbors, contributing to a collective sense of preparedness and resilience.
«At a time when security threats continue to evolve, EUCARE is committed to equipping individuals and communities with the tools they need to feel safe and empowered. By fostering vigilance, awareness, and practical skills, we are helping to build stronger, more secure communities throughout Europe, with initiatives like this in Spain», said Yael Landman, Director of EUCARE.
